GPs prescribing Mounjaro
You might have heard in the news that weight loss injections can be prescribed by your GP from June.
Whilst this is true, the criteria to qualify will be very strict. To avoid disappointment and wasted appointments, please check your eligibility below before booking an appointment to discuss Mounjaro:
- Your BMI must be above 40. Calculate your body mass index (BMI) for adults - NHS - We will check your height and weight at your appointment, so it must be accurate.
- As well as a BMI over 40, you must have a confirmed diagnosis of at least four out of the following five health conditions:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure) needing medication
- Sleep apnoea (confirmed at a sleep clinic)
- Type 2 diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease (heart disease, vascular disease or stroke)
- Hypercholesterolaemia (high cholesterol)
If you don’t meet all of these criteria, your GP will not be able to prescribe you Mounjaro for weight loss under the current guidelines.
Please don’t book an appointment about Mounjaro if you do not meet the criteria.
